Sick Policy: If your child is sick, (within 24 hours has: run a fever, bad cough, excessive runny nose, throwing up etc.) I ask that you keep them home until he/she is better. If your child is ill or becomes ill during class, I will call you to come and pick him/her up. I will make a packet of the work they missed and send it home with them the next day. This work can be done at home and does not need to be returned to me unless specified. I have included in my pricing 2 sick/vacation days per year, per class that I may take at my discretion in the event that I have to cancel class. I will give students any work they would have missed that day and make up any days I cancel above and beyond the 2 sick/vacation days.

Discipline Policy: Most of the discipline will be done by positive reinforcement. At this tender young age, they are just learning how to behave and get along with others. It is completely understandable that they may not know some of these skills yet and so there will be a lot of role playing and encouragement in class. I think children respond very well when they see other children receiving praise for something good that they have done. They will likewise want to do good things. If there are circumstances where a child is having difficulty behaving, I will let the child know what it is they need to change and if it continues, I will move the Mr. Reminder button next to their name over to the green dot. If misbehavior in class continues, I will move it to the yellow spot and then to the red spot where they will then be given a "Stop and Think". They will be asked to sit in a designated area for 2 min and think about how they can display good behavior in class. They will then be permitted to rejoin the class and make any apologies necessary. If the child receives a "Stop and Think" I will send home a form with an explanation as to why they received the "Stop and Think" and I would ask that you talk with your child about what they can do to be better, sign the form and send it back to class.

Late Policy: I will accept students no earlier than 5 min. before class. Students need to be picked up after school no later than five min. after school gets out. If students are not picked up before this time, parents will be charged $1 for every min. they are late. This will automatically be charged to your Mubus account for the following payment.

Rules Policy: I have 6 rules in my classroom that I expect the children to follow while at school. These are: Keep your hands and feet to yourself, be a good listener, write only on your own paper, keep your chair and feet on the floor, raise your hand before speaking and never say the forbidden words "I Can't". Instead, I encourage them to say, "Can you please help me" or "I will try my best."

Holiday Policy: Our Holiday schedule will follow the Alpine School District's schedule. I will be handing out a calendar at the beginning of each month that will have any changes and/or Holidays.

Field Trip Policy: We will be having a field trip once a month. There will be no field trips in Dec. or Jan. due to unstable weather. The field trip will take the place of one class during the week. It will be the parents' responsibility to bring their child to the location of the field trip at the designated time and pick them up at a designated time. The trips will have little to no cost and will be very educational.

Preschool Tuition is $100 per month and is due on the 1st of each month. You have 2 payment options for your child's preschool tuition. The registration fee is $45 per year and is non-refundable. When you register online, the registration fee of $46.65 ($45 + $1.65 card processing fee) is due immediately upon completing your online registration. If paying with cash, Venmo, or check, the fee is $45. Payment of the registration fee guarantees your child's enrollment in class.

My Venmo is Katie-stewart-7811. Monthly payments are due on the first of every month starting Sept. 1, 2027. If payments are not received by the 5th of the month a $15 late charge will be charged. If payments are not received by the 25th of the month, your child will lose their enrollment in school and missing payments will be sent to collections. Monthly tuition may also be paid online by credit/debit card for $103.30/month ($100 tuition + $3.30 card processing fee), automatically charged on the 1st of each month, September through May (9 payments).

2. Pay full years tuition $825 by Aug. 1, 2027

Pay all 9 months of tuition up front by Aug. 1, 2027. If you opt to pay for the entire year up front, you will receive a discount of $75. ($900-$75= $825) You may pay $825 using cash, check or Venmo (katie-stewart-7811), or pay online by credit/debit card for $849.95 ($825 tuition + $24.95 card processing fee). If you change your mind and would like to pay monthly, please notify me no later than Aug. 15, 2027.

"How To Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons"

For parents interested in having their child participate in this program please read and sign below.

We will be learning sounds, letters and reading skills in class throughout the year. To reach the full potential of the Distar reading program, however, it will take a committed effort from the parents. I know that some of you may not want to use this program and I fully respect your wishes. Your child will still benefit from what will be taught in class.

To help you make your decision, let me give you some background on the program. I used this program with my sons, Jordan and Preston. Jordan and Preston have consistently been 2 grade levels ahead in reading. I am thrilled that I found this program and I am extremely impressed with its results. I share it with everyone I know. I have used this program for the last 21 years with my 4-year-old students and it has been a huge success. The parents were so pleased to see their children learning to read and just as important, learning to comprehend what they were reading. This program will give them a solid reading foundation.

The reasons I am so excited about this program are many. First of all, it is extremely easy to use. It teaches you how to teach the sounds correctly and exactly what to say at each step of the program. Second, it is a complete reading program! The program starts out with sounds and rhyming words. It works up to small words and then to stories with titles and punctuation. The program also includes reading comprehension exercises. It teaches names of upper and lower case letters. Each lesson has the child practice writing letters, which helps the child associate with and remember the sounds. Third, it helps you set aside time for you and your child to spend together and really get involved in their learning. You will find that you and your child will really enjoy it!

I will be providing a schedule on the calendar to help you stay on track. This program is designed to only take 15-20 minutes a day and needs to be done consistently, at least 6 days a week. This is why I am asking for the parent's involvement. While you are doing your lessons at home we will be reinforcing the same skills at school. They will be learning the sounds, letters and reading skills in class that coordinate with the lessons you will be doing at home. However, they will not reach the full potential of the program if it is not done consistently at home. We will start the program in Jan. 2028. after the Holiday season is over. I will be having a parent orientation to give you more information and get you started. I know you will be very impressed with this program.

The field trips we go on throughout the year correlate with the themes we will be learning about in class. I have tried to make the field trips fun and informative with little or no cost. Due to liability issues the responsibility to provide transportation to and from each field trip will fall to the parents. Most field trips allow parents and siblings to stay and enjoy the field trip together.

I will be making each child a personalized apron that he/she will use throughout the year. They will get to take home and keep the apron at the end of the school year. Please go over this list with your child and write their top 3 choices in the spaces below. I will do my best to get their first choice.

Please write down your child's choices starting with their most wanted. If there is something they want that is not on the list please write it down and I will do my best to find it, but I can't guarantee it. Availability comes and goes with prints so I will do my best to get their first choice, but it may end up being their second or third choice.
